Celebrating Our Heritage, Honoring Our Icons

On Saturday, December 17, 2022, the vibrant spirit of our community came alive at the Nepal Academy Hall in Kamaladi, Kathmandu, for the 2nd World Bajracharya Award. It was an unforgettable day of celebration, connection, and deep gratitude as we gathered to honor 75 remarkable individuals who have dedicated their lives and talents to preserving and uplifting our rich cultural legacy.

The prestigious event welcomed Jeevan Ram Shrestha, Hon'ble Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, as the Chief Guest. Adding distinction to the celebration were special guests Ms. Sunita Dangol, the Deputy Mayor of Kathmandu, and Mrs. Manjali Shakya Bajracharya, the Deputy Mayor of Lalitpur. Their collective presence highlighted the event's cultural significance and underscored the ongoing commitment to celebrating outstanding achievements within the community.

The heart of the event was the presentation of the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award 2022 to two deeply respected figures of our community. We proudly honored Mr. Phanindra Bajracharya, a revered Bajracharya Guru and a brilliant voice in Nepal Bhasa literature, whose lifelong dedication has shaped our community's identity and inspired generations. Alongside him, the Lifetime Achievement Award was also proudly presented to Mr. Bidhya Sundar Shakya, the former mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, recognizing his outstanding public service and contributions to the city. This award ceremony was more than just a presentation—it was a collective thank-you from a grateful community to the guardians of our heritage.
