A Night of Excellence: Celebrating the 1st World Bajracharya Awards
On the memorable evening of December 28, 2019, history was made at the Nepal Academy Hall in Kamaladi, Kathmandu. The Bajracharya Club proudly hosted the inaugural 1st World Bajracharya Awards—a landmark event dedicated to honoring the incredible talent, academic brilliance, and professional triumphs within our global community.
The event commenced with high distinction, graced by the then Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Mr. Bidya Sundar Shakya, who joined as the evening's Chief Guest. It was a night filled with pride, inspiration, and deep connection. We came together to celebrate a staggering 58 award winners, each representing the very best of our community's future, from brilliant young scholars to pioneering professionals.
The emotional highlight of the evening was presenting the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award 2019 to the deeply respected Mr. Buddhiraj Bajracharya. As the former Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, his decades of selfless leadership, cultural preservation, and visionary public service have left an indelible mark on our heritage. Adding to the spiritual and academic grandeur of the night, the club also proudly felicitated Vidhyadhara Mahayogi Acharya Shreedhar Rana Rinpoche. He was honored with a special appreciation award for his profound contributions to the propagation of Vajrayana Buddhism, his lifetime of rigorous study and meditative retreat, and his dedication to keeping the rich heritage of Newar Buddhism alive on the global stage.
